My favorite type of wine is Amarone. It’s incredibly decadent and rich in dark fruit with hints of oaky vanilla. Rose is one of the most common and versatile of perfume materials. In many compositions it can be the star but most often it is used as a modifier to add a bit of “booty” to a perfume. It smooths out our notes and allows for a more cohesive transition.
With Amarosé, I wanted to showcase rose in a sexy sultry way while combining it with the elements I love in Amarone. The soft and sweet rose petal opening with the spicy pink peppercorn gives an elegant lift the moment that initial spritz leaves the bottle and settles onto your skin. Like a fine wine, as Amarosé opens up it begins to “bloom” and the sweet honeyed rose begins to emerge. It is accentuated by Indian jasmine which is quite floral on its own and lends an elevated elegance to the whole composition.
As we get down to the “bottom of the glass” the animalic oud which has been ever-present from the beginning, starts to become the star of the show. Wisps of vanilla, tonka bean and patchouli round out and soften the edges and you’re left with a tantalizing aroma that embodies sex appeal.
